About us

MediNetz Bonn was founded in 2003 in response to the fact that many refugees and undocumented migrants in Germany are effectively denied access to healthcare. We believe that access to medical treatment is a fundamental human right and should be available to everyone, regardless of their residence status.

In Bonn alone, an estimated 4,000 people live without secure residency status. For many of them, falling ill can have serious consequences. Without access to health insurance and with the risk of deportation associated with contact with public authorities, seeking medical care is often difficult or impossible.

To address this gap, MediNetz Bonn has built a network of healthcare professionals who provide free and anonymous medical, psychological, and dental care to people without documents or with an insecure residence status. We offer confidential advice and connect patients with suitable healthcare providers. When needed, we can also help arrange interpreters.

Protecting the privacy of those who contact us is one of our highest priorities. We do not collect personal data, and we do not share information with government authorities. Our counseling and referral service is independent of political parties, religious organizations, and other institutions.

Alongside our practical support work, we are committed to advocating for social and political change. Guided by the principle that all people are equal in dignity and rights, we campaign for the rights of undocumented migrants and refugees. In particular, we advocate for unrestricted access to healthcare and education for everyone living in Germany.
